Overview

Born from the Joint Strike Fighter program, the F-35B combines conventional takeoff and landing, short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL), and stealth technology. It succeeds the AV-8B Harrier II, with its innovative 3-bearing engine duct nozzle and lift fan enabling both supersonic speeds and vertical landings.

Now Tamiya have added this aircraft to their legendary 1/48 scale series. The kit can be built in three configurations — parked, short takeoff, or vertical landing — and can be assembled with one of three ordnance patterns: stealth mode, air-to-air mode, or beast mode. Shorter fuselage weapon bays compared to the F-35A have been newly moulded with incredible attention to detail.
